Installation Overview: Powerwall System with Wall Connector
Note
While all configurations listed below can
be installed at the time of publication, the Powershare feature is only available for Powerwall 3 at time of publication. Feature
availability for Powerwall+ and Powerwall 2 is coming soon.
System Design
Design the Powerwall system as described in the Powerwall 3 System Design Guide. Although the vehicle may be plugged in and available for Vehicle-to-Home Powershare, it is important to design the system assuming the vehicle may not be plugged in during a grid outage.
CAUTION
The Wall Connector must be considered a generation source in backfeed
calculations.
Installation
- Install the Powerwall system as
described in the relevant Powerwall installation manual:
- Powerwall 3 with Gateway 3 installation manual
- Powerwall 3 with Backup Switch installation manual
- Powerwall 3 with Backup Gateway 2 installation manual
- Powerwall+ with Backup Switch installation manual
- Powerwall+ with Backup Gateway 2 installation manual
- Powerwall 2 with Backup Gateway 2 installation manual
NoteDo not install Powershare Gateway with a Powerwall system. Do not attempt to run communication wiring between the Wall Connector and the Powerwall or Backup Gateway / Backup Switch. - Ensure the Wall Connector breaker is installed inside the backup circuit.
- Confirm both Powerwall and Wall Connector have access to the same Wi-Fi network, and
that the signal is strong. NotePowerwall and Wall Connector must be on the same Wi-Fi network for the Powershare feature to function properly. If needed, take measures to improve Wi-Fi signal, such as installing Wi-Fi extenders.
