Configure CSIP Australia Feature

For systems with the CSIP / Backstop application, configure the CSIP Australia feature.

Overview

Common Smart Inverter Profile - Australia (CSIP-Aus) is a standard that enables solar and battery inverters to communicate with DNSPs, and allows DNSPs to dynamically adjust export limits based on real-time network conditions. This replaces static export limits, optimizing grid capacity while enabling customers to export more energy when the grid can handle it.

The CSIP-Aus feature is available beginning with the following software versions:

  • Powerwall software version 24.36.10
  • Tesla One version 12.19
  • Tesla app version 4.39.0

Configure CSIP Australia Feature

  1. Select CSIP Australia from the Advanced Settings page.

NOTE: The feature is only visible if one of the specified utilities is selected during Grid Code selection.

  2. Enter the National Metering ID.
  3. Ensure the system is running, then select Start.
  4. Wait for registration to complete, which can be confirmed with a Registered Device value of Yes:
  5. Start the capability test on the Utility Portal, then monitor the Utility Portal for progress. Once the test has passed on the Utility Portal, the CSIP-Aus commissioning process is complete and the installer can cancel the test in Tesla One.

Troubleshooting Registration Failure

If a Failed to Authenticate error is displayed:

  1. Confirm the National Metering ID (NMI) was entered correctly (select Back to re-enter the NMI).
  2. Confirm Powerwall 3 has a strong internet connection.
  3. Select Retry to attempt registration again.
  4. If registration fails again, select Back to re-enter the NMI:
    • Remove the 11th digit of the National Metering ID if it was initially included.
    • Add the 11th digit of the National Metering ID if it was not initially included.
  5. Select Retry to attempt registration again.

Troubleshooting Capability Test Failure

If a Failed Capability Testing error is displayed:
  1. Reduce the home loads.
  2. Select Retry to attempt capability testing again.
  3. In the Utility Portal, re-trigger the capability test.
