Optional: Configure Low Voltage Relay Control (Load Shedding)

Beginning with Powerwall software version 25.2 and Tesla One version 12.32, Powerwall 3 allows for load shedding, meaning a low voltage, dry contact control circuit can be wired to shed a specific load when the Powerwall system is off-grid. See the Powerwall 3 Install Manual for complete instructions to wire the low voltage control circuit.

Once the wiring is complete, configure Off-grid Load Shedding in the Device Setup interface:
  1. Select Settings > Advanced Settings > TACO Load Control Relay.
  2. In the Configuration Type dropdown menu, select Off-grid Load Shedding.

Configure Backup Gateway 2 Load Control Relay

As another option, a low voltage, dry contact control circuit can also be connected to the Backup Gateway 2 Aux terminals (see the Powerwall 3 Install Manual for wiring instructions). For these systems, up to two low voltage control circuits can be connected, with one connected to Powerwall 3 and the other connected to Backup Gateway 2. If connecting only one low voltage control circuit, the installer can choose either the Powerwall 3 or the Backup Gateway 2.

To configure Off-grid Load Shedding for Backup Gateway 2:

  1. Select Settings > Advanced Settings > Gateway Load Control Relay.
  2. In the Configuration Type dropdown menu, select Off-grid Load Shedding.
