Assign Backup Phase

Select the phase on which Powerwall is installed as a backup phase. You can do so from the Phase Detection page. For instance, in a system with three Powerwalls installed (one each on L1, L2, and L3), you must assign Line 1 to the unit installed on L1, Line 2 to the unit installed on L2, and Line 3 to the unit installed on L3. Once the phases are assigned for each Powerwall, you can select one of them as a Backup Phase.

You can allow the system to automatically detect the phase, or you can manually set it only if the system doesn't automatically detect the phase for some reason.

Detect Phase Automatically

  1. Select Settings > Phase Detection > Detect Phase.
  2. In case of single Powerwall, ensure that the phase assigned to the Powerwall is selected as a Backup Phase.
  3. In case of multiple Powerwall units, ensure that each Powerwall has been correctly assigned to the phase it is physically installed on. If the Backup Phase selected is incorrect, select the correct one from the Backup Phase dropdown.
  4. If a Powerwall's phase is undetected, check the alerts tray to determine how to proceed, and run phase detection again if necessary.

Set Phase Manually

For each Powerwall installed, to manually set the phase on which it is installed:

  1. Select Settings > Phase Detection > Set Manually.
  2. Select I have verified the wiring is correct.

    If you are unsure of the phase on which a Powerwall is installed, make sure to verify before you declare that you have verified the wiring is correct.
  3. Select the phase on which Powerwall 3 unit is installed and then select Save.
  4. From the Backup Phase dropdown, select the phase that you want to assign as a backup.
