Powerwall 3 with Gateway 3 (Whole Home Backup)

  • All loads and Tesla equipment breakers are downstream of the Gateway 3 contactor.
  • Site-level metering is performed by integrated Site CTs.
  • Internal panelboard may be used for Tesla equipment breakers.
  • Neutral-Ground Bonding Screw remains installed only if Gateway 3 is main service entrance equipment.

Note
This configuration requires the removal of the jumper between the backup lugs and the internal panelboard. Two conductors of the same size and material are landed in each of the lower backup lugs.

Powerwall 3 with Gateway 3 (Partial Home Backup)

  • Neutral-Ground Bonding Screw is removed when Gateway is not used as service entrance equipment.
  • The diagrams below show the breaker for the Powerwall 3 being installed inside of Gateway 3. This breaker can also being installed inside of a load center that is located downstream of the Gateway.
  • Up to 200 amps of non-backed up loads can be measured with a Tesla Remote Energy Meter and CTs.
