Optional: Perform the Off-Grid Powershare Test

The Go Off-Grid feature in the Tesla mobile app confirms the system will function as expected, both when connected to the grid and during a grid outage. The test is optional because the customer must be available to perform it in their Tesla app.

Note
If the system includes a Backup Switch that must be installed by the utility at a later date, the Off-Grid test cannot be performed. Once Backup Switch has been installed, the customer will receive a notification in their Tesla app to complete the Off-Grid Powershare test; a site visit is not required for this test.

Note
As an alternative to performing the Off-Grid test in the customer’s Tesla app, the system main breaker can be turned off to simulate a grid outage. However, this method cannot be used for Powershare systems with Backup Switch, as Backup Switch is always installed upstream of the main breaker.

Note that solar breaker(s) must be turned OFF before turning the main breaker off for a backup test.

  1. For systems with solar in the backup circuit, turn the solar breaker(s) OFF.

    CAUTION
Turning solar breaker(s) OFF before going off-grid is critical to ensure the customer's home loads are not damaged during the off-grid test.
  2. Plug the Universal Wall Connector charge handle into the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck charge port LED will pulse green to indicate it is charging.
  3. If they have not done so already, ask the customer to pair their phone with Powershare Gateway:

    2. In the app, select Settings, then Phone Pairing.
