Tesla Solar Inverter with Site Controller (1538000-45-y) has a factory-installed
Neurio meter in its enclosure; where possible, additional CTs can be
installed and extended to measure Site. Where the CTs cannot be extended to
measure Site, and for all other Solar Inverter variants, a new Neurio meter
must be installed as follows.
Install the Meter
Using the screws provided in the meter kit, attach the mounting
plate to the inside of the main distribution board or to
another surface. Choose a location that takes into account
the voltage line harness and CT cable lengths.
On the voltage line harness, combine the blue and red leads as
shown below.
Plug the voltage
line harness into the meter.
Connect the
voltage line harness leads to a dedicated two pole circuit
breaker (not exceeding 20 A):
Voltage Harness Phase and Wire
Color
Breaker Terminal
A (black)
L1 (Phase A)
B (red)
L2 (Phase A)
C (blue)
Spliced with the Red B
wire
N (white)
Neutral busbar
Note
If a dedicated circuit breaker is not available,
the voltage line harness can be spliced to existing
breakers.
Note
Ensure the breaker phases align with the supply
phases. Some models cross phases so that the breaker
is the opposite phase of the supply lug above
it.
Install the
Antenna
To install the antenna, screw it onto the meter. It is recommended to
locate the antenna outside the enclosure using the included antenna
extension:
Locate a 1/2” or
3/4" knockout and install a cable gland.
Mount the antenna by threading the extension cable through the
included knockout mount and securing the mount.
Screw the antenna onto the extension cable and connect the
extension cable to the meter.

Install the CTs
Note
For each CT, ensure the
CT is installed with the label SOURCE THIS
SIDE on the CT housing pointing toward the power source
(service entrance / grid for Site CTs, solar inverter for Solar
CTs). Always verify CTs are in the correct orientation by observing
power flow in the Commissioning Wizard.Figure 2. CT
Orientation in Relation to Power Flow
Install the Site
CTs upstream of all loads and generation:
Plug the CT measuring L1 (Phase A) into the CT1
or CT4 port on the meter.
Plug the CT measuring L2 (Phase B) into the CT2
or CT3 port on the meter.
Clamp the CTs around the L1 and L2 conductors
where Site is being measured.
If necessary, install a Solar CT
around the Solar Inverter conductor (only required for sites
that qualify for Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC)
programs):
Note
For
Tesla Solar Inverter with Site Controller
(1538000-45-y), the Solar CT is factory-installed
and this step can be skipped.
Plug the CT into a port on the meter.
For L1, plug the CT into the CT1 or CT4 port
For L2, plug the CT into the CT2 or CT3 port
Clamp the CT around the appropriate Solar
Inverter conductor based on the port it is plugged
in to.
Note
Only one CT is required to measure Solar because
total power output is calculated by the
software.
