Step 2: Mount the Solar Inverter

Note
For mounting requirements based on wall type, refer to Appendix A: Mounting Details.
  1. Using a drill and level, mount the bracket to the selected wall. See Appendix A: Mounting Details for additional details on the type and number of fasteners to use.

  2. Using a hole saw or knockout kit, drill out the cable access holes from the Solar Inverter that were selected in Step 1: Plan the Installation Site. All cable knockouts are ¾” in diameter but can be expanded.

    CAUTION
    If drilling into the enclosure, exercise caution and clean any metal shavings out of the enclosure after drilling. Only drill into the areas of the enclosure indicated in green in the image below. Drilling elsewhere could result in damage to the Solar Inverter and/or water ingress (if drilling into the top of the enclosure).

    Tesla Solar Inverter with Site Controller (1538000-45-y) has two fewer knockouts than all other variants. All other variants have an additional knockout on the left side and on the rear of the unit as shown below.

    Note
    Tesla Solar Inverter with Site Controller (1538000-45-y) has one knockout that is punched out at the factory. If not using this knockout, seal it with the conduit hole seal provided in the accessory bag (Tesla PN 1576749-00-A).
  3. Mount and secure the Solar Inverter on the bracket:
    1. Position the Solar Inverter close to the wall and adjust the height of the unit until its mounting cleats are just above the flanges on the bracket.
    2. Lower the Solar Inverter until the top cleats engage with the top flange on the bracket and the bottom cleats engage with the bottom flange.

      The Solar Inverter must be installed in the orientation shown below. Do not install the enclosure upside down or on its side.

      Tesla Solar Inverter with Site Controller (1538000-45-y) has two sets of cleats. Use the set highlighted in blue below to mount Solar Inverter in the correct orientation.
    3. Secure the Solar Inverter to the bracket by installing the provided T30 fastener (M6-1.0 x 10 mm stainless steel screw) in the threaded hole as shown below.
