Determine Neurio Meter and CT Placement

Before installing the Neurio meter, determine where the CTs will be placed to measure site (and solar if necessary).

CT Placement

  • Site (Grid) CTs are placed between at the utility service point to measure all loads and generation.
  • A Solar CT is only installed if the system qualifies for Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC) programs. Solar Inverter with Site Controller (1538000-45-y) has a factory-installed CT for SREC.

See the SREC Solar Metering Quick Guide for metering diagrams and installation and commissioning instructions for sites that require revenue-grade Solar metering for SREC programs.

CT Wire Lengths

Before installing the remote energy meter, consider the maximum length of the CT wire. Neurio W2 CT leads are 1.2 m (4 ft) long and can be extended to a maximum length of 4.5 m (15 ft) with up to one Neurio W2 CT extension kit (3.3 m / 11 ft, Tesla P/N 1622289-xx-y).

Note
CT extensions cannot be combined unless the connection point between extensions remains accessible (for instance, inside a panel).

If the distance between the meter and the CT is greater than 4.5 m (15 ft), the meter can be relocated, or a second meter can be used. When the meter is relocated into the main distribution board, use the antenna extension to place the antenna on the outside of the distribution board.
