Close the Wiring Compartments and Turn the System On
- Before closing any installed hardware, take photos of the completed wiring in the Powerwall+, Backup Switch, and main distribution board.
- Ensure that all conduit junctions and cable entry points are secure and properly sealed.
- Arrange all wires neatly inside the Powerwall+ wiring compartments.
-
Mount the solar assembly
door.
- Clean out the solar assembly enclosure and vacuum out any dust.
-
Install the grounding jumper:
- Close the solar assembly door and latch it shut.
-
Using a right angle Phillips
head screwdriver, tighten the captive screw on the solar assembly door to secure
it.
WarningTightening this screw is absolutely necessary to prevent untrained persons from opening the solar assembly door, which would expose them to energized conductors.NoteA luggage lock, such as a Master Lock 120 series, can be used to lock the solar assembly shut.
- Use a breaker label sheet to clearly label the circuit breakers.
- Install signage complying with local AHJ requirements at the panel and at the Rapid Shutdown initiator. Depending on the installation, the Rapid Shutdown initiator will be the Powerwall+ Enable switch AND/OR at the System Shutdown Switch. See Appendix E: Solar Assembly Rapid Shutdown for a label example and diagrams of label placement in common system configurations.
- Switch on the AC circuit breaker for Powerwall+.
-
Switch on Powerwall+ by moving the Enable switch on the right side of the unit to the ON position.
NoteThe Powerwall+ On / Off switch has a locking mechanism. When the switch is locked it cannot be turned on.CAUTIONAlways leave site with Powerwall+ breaker closed for battery to maintain a base level of charge. Leaving the Powerwall+ disconnected from AC for extended periods increases risk of damage.
