Configure Wi-Fi Connected Tesla Remote Energy Meter

  1. Log in to Tesla One and connect to the Powerwall 3, then confirm the following minimum software versions:
    • Tesla One version version 12.19.1 or later
    • Powerwall software version 24.28.12-rm-5 or later
  2. If the system is running, select Stop System.
  3. Select System, then select the Metering tab and select Add Wi-Fi Tesla Remote Meter.
  4. Select Scan QR Code, then scan the QR code on the Tesla Remote Energy Meter.
  5. Select Join to join the Tesla Remote Meter (TRM_XXXXX) network.
  6. When prompted, select Join to re-join the Powerwall (TeslaPW) network.
  7. Confirm the meter was successfully connected (the Configuration Complete page will display).
  8. Select Remote Meter and confirm the Signal Strength is at least 50%.

    Note
    If Signal Strength is lower than 50%:
    1. Confirm the meter antenna is extended outside the metal enclosure as described in the Residential Energy Product Metering Guide (if Tesla Remote Energy Meter is installed inside a metal enclosure).
    2. Use a Wi-Fi extender or other method to increase Wi-Fi signal strength.
    3. Connect the Tesla Remote Energy Meter to Powerwall 3 via RS-485 wiring.

    Note
    Tesla One must be updated to version 12.36 or later to view Signal Strength.
  9. Configure the CT(s) as Site or Solar, depending on what they are measuring.
  10. On the landing page, select Start System. The meter may update its firmware, which may take up to 5 minutes (track the meter's update progress by selecting System > Metering tab).
  11. Review the meter vitals to confirm the CT(s) have been installed and configured correctly.

Note
If needed, Tesla Remote Energy Meter can be deleted (unpaired) from Powerwall 3 by selecting Delete Meter from the Meter page in Tesla One. Perform this step before turning off and physically removing the meter.
