Configure Wi-Fi Connected Tesla Remote Energy Meter
- Log in to Tesla One and connect to
the Powerwall 3, then confirm the following
minimum software versions:
- Tesla One version version 12.19.1 or later
- Powerwall software version 24.28.12-rm-5 or later
- If the system is running, select Stop System.
- Select System, then select the Metering tab and select Add Wi-Fi Tesla Remote Meter.
- Select Scan QR Code, then scan the QR code on the Tesla Remote Energy Meter.
- Select Join to join the Tesla Remote Meter (TRM_XXXXX) network.
- When prompted, select Join to re-join the Powerwall (TeslaPW) network.
- Confirm the meter was successfully connected (the Configuration Complete page will display).
- Select Remote Meter and configure the CTs as Site or Solar, depending on what they are measuring.
- On the landing page, select Start System. The meter may update its firmware, which may take up to 5 minutes (track the meter's update progress by selecting System > Metering tab).
- Review the meter vitals to confirm the CT(s) have been installed and configured correctly.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Remote Meter is "Unable to Read Data"
- The meter may be performing a firmware update. Wait 5 minutes before proceeding.
- On the landing page, Stop System then Start System again
- Try power cycling the meter (turn the meter breaker OFF then back ON)
Issue: "Failed to Configure Meter"
- Confirm the meter is powered on (the LED is ON and blinking green)
- Confirm the TRM_XXXXXX
network is broadcasting and visible (in range) when standing at the Powerwall 3NoteOn the phone, open the list of available Wi-Fi networks to search for the TRM network.
- If the meter is not
broadcasting the TRM_XXXXX network, flip the meter breaker OFF then
back ON to reboot the meter, then search for the network again.NoteThe meter will only broadcast the TRM_XXXXX network for 10 minutes after it is powered on. If commissioning is performed more than 10 minutes after turning the meter on, reboot the meter so that it will broadcast the network again.
- If the meter is not
broadcasting the TRM_XXXXX network, flip the meter breaker OFF then
back ON to reboot the meter, then search for the network again.
