Powershare Gateway Installation Requirements
AC isolation and interconnection requirements between the Tesla system and the electrical
panel are subject to local codes. Ensure that the installation meets local isolation and
interconnection requirements. All U.S. and Canada electrical installations must be done
in accordance with local codes and the National Electric Code (NEC) ANSI/NFPA 70 or the
Canadian Electrical Code CSA C22.1.
- The connection requirements of the grid operator must be met.
- The overcurrent protection to be provided, and conductors with regards to ampacity, rated temperatures, operating conditions and power loss, must be made in accordance with the local standards and the National Electrical Code® ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian Electrical Code® CSA C22.1.
- The AC and DC electric circuits are isolated from the enclosure. If required by section 250 of the National Electrical Code®, ANSI/NFPA 70, the installer is responsible for grounding the system.
Wiring and conduit (where required) must be provided by the installer and installed to comply with local codes.
Warning
The Wall Connector must be
installed on the ‘Backup’ ('Home') side of the Powershare Gateway relay.
Warning
Do not connect the Powershare Gateway in any way that bypasses or short-circuits its relay.
Warning
Do not connect the Powershare Gateway to the source side only or to the load side only. The Powershare Gateway must have both source and load connections, and must be wired in compliance with
local codes.
CAUTION
Powershare Gateway is rated for 25 kA maximum supply fault current. Where local regulation requires a 25
kA rating, all breakers employed in circuit with the Powershare Gateway should also be rated to 25 kA.
CAUTION
The Manual Override
switch inside the product may not be used to simulate a grid outage or take home
off-grid. A main isolation switch should be installed upstream of the Powershare Gateway for testing the system and for service purposes.
Note
All installations must conform to the
laws, regulations, codes, and standards applicable in the jurisdiction of
installation.
