System Metering
Power measurements are needed for a Powershare Home Backup system to operate properly, and for system data to appear in the customer's Tesla app.
Powershare Systems with Cybertruck Only
System Configuration | Site Metering (Backup Loads) | Site Metering (Non-Backup Loads) | Solar Metering |
---|---|---|---|
Powershare Gateway with Universal Wall Connector | Provided by Powershare Gateway | Not available for Powershare System view 1 | Not available for Powershare System view 2 |
Powershare Gateway and Backup Switch with Universal Wall Connector | Provided by Backup Switch | N/A (whole home backup only) |
1 Non-Backup Site Metering: At the time of publication, non-backup loads are not metered; for the customer, this means their Tesla app will only display energy usage for the loads in the backup circuit.
2 Solar Metering:
At the time of publication, solar metering is not installed for Cybertruck-only
Powershare systems.
- If the home has a Tesla Solar Inverter, the customer can view solar production in their Tesla app by selecting the Solar Inverter system in the app
- If the home has third party solar, it will not appear in the Tesla app
Note
Tesla Remote Meter will be
available for Non-Backup Site metering and/or Solar metering in 2025. It is
strongly recommended for installers to return to site to install a Tesla Remote
Meter when they become available, as complete monitoring enables accurate data
in the customer's Tesla app, and overall a much better customer
experience.
Note
If the system includes solar
and there is capacity in the backup panel, ensure solar is included in the
backup circuit.
Powershare Systems with Cybertruck and Powerwall
In Powershare systems with Powerwall, the Powerwall system performs all metering. See the relevant Powerwall installation manual linked in Supported System Configurations for more details.
