Whole-Home Backup Wiring Diagrams

  • All loads and Tesla equipment breakers are downstream of the Powershare Gateway contactor.
  • Internal panelboard may be used for Tesla equipment breakers.
  • Neutral-Ground Bonding Screw remains installed only if Powershare Gateway is main service entrance equipment.

Note
The diagrams below show the breaker for the Wall Connector being installed inside of Powershare Gateway. This breaker can also being installed inside of a load center that is located downstream of the Powershare Gateway.

Note
When Backup Switch is installed with Powershare Gateway, the 4-conductor communication cable to Backup Switch is spliced into the factory-installed harness connecting the Tesla Asset Controller to the islanding contactor inside of Powershare Gateway. See Wire Communications from Powershare Gateway to Backup Switch for more information.

While the islanding function is performed by the Backup Switch, the islanding contactor inside of Powershare Gateway remains connected for miscellaneous functions.

Note
This configuration requires the removal of the jumper between the backup lugs and the internal panelboard. Two conductors of the same size and material are landed in each of the lower backup lugs.
