During normal operation, the system automatically senses grid outages and
transitions to off-grid operation. If the grid outage ends and the system is
unable to transition back to on-grid operation and is dropping loads,
perform a manual override to bring the system back to on-grid operation.
Note
The Powershare Gateway Manual Override
Switch is only used when the system does not
include a Backup Switch. For systems that include Backup Switch, see Performing a Backup Switch Manual Override.
CAUTION
Use the Manual
Override only during service events. The system may override a user prompted
manual override action for safety reasons. If the manual override is not
successful, contact Tesla Service before taking any additional steps.
Override switch in the on-grid
position (left image), and the off-grid position (right
image):
Turn off all home
load breakers.
Turn the power
supply breaker to the Powershare
Gateway OFF.
Remove the Gateway deadfront cover.
While wearing
electrical safety PPE, use a multimeter to verify that there
are no faults in the backup or grid side of Gateway.
Push the Manual
Override switch in ONCE to perform a manual override. Tesla
installers, certified electricians, and utility personnel
are authorized to perform this task.
If the Manual Override switch remains closed in
the “Grid” position and power is restored, the
process is complete and the system is functional.
If the Manual Override switch trips open again to
the “Off Grid” position and power is not restored,
reset the Powershare
Gateway
(see Reset the Gateway), unplug
the communication cable, and contact the
Installation Hotline.
Warning
Risk of
electric shock due to proximity to busbar. Turn the power supply
breaker to the Powershare
Gateway OFF before
using the Manual Override switch, and wear all required electrical
safety personal protective equipment when working inside the enclosure.
